With over 100 acres of meadows, gardens and mature woodlands, Bryngarw Country Park is a magical place to visit. You can bask in the floral tranquillity of the Oriental Garden; walk through woods carpeted with bluebells; ramble along the banks of the River Garw looking for dippers and kingfishers; and watch the children enjoy the playground with its famous tower slide.
From cycle trails and pond dipping to discovery walks and storytelling events, there is something to do here all year round. If you fancy a bite to eat, we have an excellent café – but there are other options too: you could hire a barbeque and cook your own feast or enjoy a picnic in an enchanting wildflower meadow. On rainy days, head to the visitor centre to enjoy the interactive digital displays about the park, the restful wellbeing corner and more.
Bryngarw has a fascinating history: the magnificent house was built in the early 1800s and the estate itself stretches back further again. Officially opened to the public as a country park in May 1986, Bryngarw has since won plenty of accolades, including achieving Green Flag Award status and Green Heritage accreditation, recognising it as one of the best green spaces in the UK.
Whatever age your children are, there is plenty for them to enjoy at Bryngarw. You can let them loose in our adventure playground with its famous tower slide and natural play area, which is fantastic for building dens. For indoors fun, head to our new visitor centre where they can enjoy the discovery area with its central willow den in which storytelling sessions are held.
Bryngarw is not just a fabulous visitor attraction; it’s also a hugely important natural resource that is sensitively managed in order to protect and promote its biodiversity. The rangers are assisted in the conservation of the park’s habitats by a dedicated team of volunteers, and in the ongoing grounds maintenance work by the trainees at B-Leaf.Find out more
