Half Term Fun at Bryngarw Country Park

By Toni, 18th Oct 2022

Are you already wondering how on earth you’re going to entertain the kids over half term? Finding interesting things for children to do when they’re off school isn’t always easy. Of course, you can always bring them up to Bryngarw Country Park for a few hours of fun in the outdoor play areas, some quiet story time at the visitor centre or a long walk followed by a tasty treat at our café – but that’s not all.  We’ve also got some great events for the whole family to join in with this autumn. So, if you’re looking for some fun and educational half term activities, here’s what’s happening at the park.

Autumn activities for all the family

Sun 30 Oct 2022 – The Conjuror of Cwrtycadno (All ages)

An enchanting tale steeped in Welsh folklore this delightful family-friendly theatre production is a real crowd pleaser. Part play, part treasure hunt, the story follows a young woman as she discovers her magical ancestry and an intriguing book of spells. Great fun with a big helping of audience participation, this is one the kids will love – as long as they have some experience in helping confused Welsh fairies get home in time for winter!

This inclusive production also features a live audio description and integrated British Sign Language. Tickets are selling fast, so don’t miss out. Book your tickets here.

Tue 1 Nov 2022 – Autumn Crafts (Age 4+)

There’s nowhere better to get stuck into some autumn crafts than a country park that’s bursting with natural materials and inspiring scenery. Our arts and craft session will take place in our spacious education centre, which means if the weather isn’t great, there’s no need to worry about the kids getting cold and wet (or any of the crafts blowing away). The little ones can try their hand at making wreaths, as well as creating masks and magnets featuring their favourite woodland animals. Book your tickets here.

Thu 3 Nov 2022 – Harp in the Park (All ages)

We love a musical event here at Bryngarw and there’s something particularly special about the soothing, ethereal sound of a harp, especially when it’s being played by an illustrious Welsh harpist like Bethan Semmens. This autumn, you can join Bethan for Harp in the Park, a unique interactive experience that’s suitable for all the family. Book your tickets here.

Sun 6 Nov 2022 – Autumn Photography Workshop (12 years +)

If you’re a regular visitor, you’ll know just how incredible the park looks at this time of year. And if you haven’t experienced Bryngarw in the autumn, you’re missing a treat. The woodland foliage, and the leaves of the exotic plant species in our Japanese Garden, are so spectacular it’s the perfect venue for anyone wanting to unleash their inner photographer. This year, experienced professional photographer Nick Jenkins will be joining us to share his vast knowledge. So, if you’d like to learn more about composing a great shot and how to use your camera to perfectly capture the natural wonders of autumn, book your tickets here.
